Amy (Burns) Watkins

studied ballet at Linda’s Ballet Workshop from age 3 until she left for college. At Woodbridge High School she was a member and captain of the Vikette competition dance team. Through individual awards given at competition, Amy was able to travel to Ireland to dance in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin and to New York City to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. At Longwood College, Amy minored in Dance Education and was a member of the Company of Dancers, dancing over 20 hours per week. There they emphasized Martha Graham technique while also studying ballet, jazz, and African dance techniques; accompanied by master classes in Irish dance and variations of African dance. In Cincinnati, Amy danced for the International Basketball League’s Stuff Basketball team at the Riverfront Coliseum performing hip hop and precision routines lead by coach/ choreographer from the Dallas Mavericks dance team. Going back to the stage, Amy worked with many Cincinnati choreographers including Linda Goldstein, Carrie Rowan and many others, performing many modern pieces through the Contemporary Dance Theater and at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Choreographers without Companies. Amy taught Modern dance, in collaboration with Heather Britt, at the Cincinnati Ballet and lead Rhythm in Motion dance workout classes, while taking Hip Hop classes from Steve Irvin at Cincinnati Ballet. She was the Dance Director at Hyde Park Gymnastics and Dance in Cincinnati teaching ballet, jazz, tap, and tumbling. Amy began at Arts Enter Cape Charles in 2009 taking class and performing with Christina Harvey and since 2010 has been teaching Modern, Ballet, and Creative Movement.

Amanda Piffe is exited to share her talent and training at Arts Enter. She has studied tap, jazz, and ballet in Indiana while growing up there and is now seeking a dance and performing arts home. Amanda has a passion for teaching and for children.

This season we are aiming for two performances. The first will be a Halloween show on October 29, 2016 and the second is a Christmas show on the weekend of December 17, 2016. Responsibilities of the dance students include rehearsa;s in addition to regular scheduled classes as performances approach.
