Documentary Movie: Hometown Habitat @ The Palace Theatre
Apr 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Documentary Movie: Hometown Habitat @ The Palace Theatre | Cape Charles | Virginia | United States
Eastern Shore of Virginia Master Gardeners (ESVMG) present Hometown Habitat – Stories of Bringing Nature Homeon Arbor Day at the Historic Palace Theater in Cape Charles. $5 donation per person is requested. The first 50 filmgoers will receive a free native tree or shrub seedling.
The narrative thread of this eight-part documentary is provided by renowned entomologist Douglas Tallamy, Ph.D., whose research, books and lectures about the use of non-native plants in landscaping sound the alarm about habitat and species loss. Tallamy shares how important it is to incorporate nature into all landscaping endeavors instead of simply setting aside special areas or preserves for nature.
For two years, producer/director Catherine Zimmerman and her film crew traveled around the country, visiting hometown habitat heroes and filming their inspiring stories of community commitment to conservation landscaping. Zimmerman has shared these success stories and works-in-progress, which reawaken and redefine our relationship with nature. The message inspires-all of us have the power to support habitat for wildlife and bring natural beauty to our personal patch of the Earth, and the goal energizes-all of us can help build a new army of habitat heroes and make natural landscaping the new landscaping norm.

Movie ~ Night at the Museum @ The Palace Theatre ~ Arts Enter | Cape Charles | Virginia | United States

Synopsis NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM is an action-adventure-comedy that comes to life by night. Good-hearted dreamer Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), despite being perpetually down on his luck, thinks he’s destined for something big. But even he could never have imagined how “big,” when he accepts what appears to be a menial job as a graveyard-shift security guard at a museum of natural history. During Larry’s watch, extraordinary things begin to occur: Mayans, Roman Gladiators, and cowboys emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles; in his quest for fire, a Neanderthal burns down his own display; Attila the Hun pillages his neighboring exhibits, and a T-Rex reminds everyone why he’s history’s fiercest predator. Amidst the chaos, the only person Larry can turn to for advice is a wax figure of President Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), who helps our hero harness the bedlam, stop a nefarious plot, and save the museum.
